Curly Hair Dedication to Shirley Temple

After hearing that Shirley Temple had died this past week, it brought back memories of when I was little watching the movie Heidi. She always had that cute girly hair. So I thought in honor of her I would do a post dedicated to curly hair.

My hair is naturally curly/wavy. I had gotten a keratin treatment last summer so that has smoothed out my curls a lot. I can still curl it with a curling iron for that glam look or scrunch it for some beachy waves.

One key to having great curls is to moisturize your hair. Use a rich conditioner to help control frizz and fly aways. Using a deep conditioner or a hot oil treatment can do wonders for your locks if used once a week.

Great products and tools for curly hair:

Alberto VO5 Moisturizing Hot Oil Treatment - This adds moisture and shine to dry hair. I love the silky texture.

Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask - I got so many compliments on my shiny hair when I used this. I haven't used it in a few years now but I am thinking of going back to it. It smells lovely too.

Bed Head Rock 'n' Roller Ceramic Styling Iron - I am still experimenting with this but I've had it for about 4 months now and I like it. It can make some great curls! It also works especially great on dirty hair.

Hot Tools Curling Iron, Rainbow Gold, 1 Inch - Any Hot Tools curling iron is great. They have many sizes and all different types like wands etc.

Diffuser attachment for your blowdryer - These are great for scrunching. They diffuse the heat so it is not so harsh of a "wind" on your hair creating a frizz free wild child look.

Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing and Texturizing Powder - Want volume? This is the best! It plumps up your locks like nobody's business. It applies like baby powder - through a shaker and you don't need a lot to get an intense effect.

Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hair Spray - A great classic hairspray for hold and bounce.

Sexy Hair Big Sexy Blow Dry Volume Gel - I love this for scrunching for it can also work great for rollers.

Aussie Sprunch Non-Aerosol Hairspray - This is great for scrunching your hair. So if crunchy and wild is your curly hair style of choice definitely make sure you have this in your arsenal.

TIGI Bed Head Foxy Curls Contour Cream - If smelling like candy and having great soft glorious curls are more your thing then this is for you! It's a little on thicker side so people with fine hair will probably not be crazy about how it might weight their hair down but if you have thick curls this is fabulous.

Bed Head After Party - Not just for curly hair but this will change your life. It smells SO good! The scent reminds me of freshly shampooed hair and it's refreshing. I love using this the second day of styling so refresh and take care of frizzy areas.

Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Gel - I wouldn't call this a gel. It has a cream texture. It also smells great and works nice for when I put my hair in rollers or when I blow dry with a diffuser and then curl with an iron. This "gel" helps control the curls and holds the style nicely.

Marc Anthony Dream Wave Beach Spray - This is my summertime staple. I use this in with the following gel for summer scented wavy locks. Coconut = summer to me and this fits the bill!

Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Waves Amplifying Lotion - This is great for summer too but also year round. It has that tropical coconut scent as the above spray. It is more of a gel consistency than a lotion though.
